The car looked virtually the same as the 911, but had the old flat 4-cylinder engine found in the earlier Porsche 356. Despite its obvious weight advantages over the 911, the 912 has long been dismissed by rabid Porsche fans as an undesirable car – the “poor man’s 911” if you will. »
